Art
So many amazing interactions were made and unbelievable bonds created because of art -- I would say if one thing remains in my life, that must be art.
Music
Music is a language for Bolin, enabling her to connect with people with all kinds of experience (that’s why she loves to play every public piano she sees): she met a man while playing a public piano at Brigham and Women’s Hospital who plays saxophone very well and was amazed by her sight-reading ability and thus urged her to play for another 1 hour just to test her sight-reading ability; she met an old lady who has a 31 years old daughter needing special care and therefore gifted her daughter a special jazz birthday song; she talked about music with the seniors in senior center and made a lot of friends; she played music with an autistic boy who also loves to play the piano and received a hug from him (that was the best-ever experience)...
Bolin started to play the piano when she was 4. She is the winner and finalist in several international and national competitions, including the first prize of 2024 American Protege International Piano and Strings Competition, third prize of 2024 Bay State Competition, finalist of 2023 and 2024 A. Ramon Rivera Piano Competition, and finalist of 2023 Steinway Society of Massachusetts Piano Competition. She is fortunate to perform at the Carnegie Hall in November, 2024, and being selected as the pianist for BYSO in 2024. She also gained Distinction in ABRSM Diploma certification and ABRSM Music Theory Grade 6. As an enthusiastic pianist, she loves Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Ravel and wants to share her passion. Music has already been an irreplaceable part of her life. Hope the power of music would spread across each one of you to build an interpersonal bridge that breaks the limit of space and time.
However, Bolin is not just a serious classical musician. She loves to pretend to be a rock star singing and playing electric guitar with her friends in a music room down the basement of the music school. She calls the music school at Dana Hall home as she spends almost every weekend there and always forgets to go to dinner (that’s why she is always hungry at midnight, craving for food. Hmm, you can call this inspirational as you can see what she does down below).

Digital ArtThe person in the painting is wearing a space suit, standing on the skull of an ancient dragon, and holding a spear that our ancestors used to hunt. At this dystopian combination of history and future, is it the sin of the human to stand astride time itself, one foot in the primordial past and one in the cosmic future?
Omniscience
The faulted Buddha looks down the crowded city. The corona of divine light piercing through the city's smog and neon glow stands as a beacon of hope amidst the chaos of urban life, and his gaze, filled with boundless mercy, sees the universal struggles of existence - the hunger for meaning, the fear of suffering, the longing for connection. In a world where consumerism reigns and spiritual values wane, we see the once-pristine Buddha now bearing the scars of our collective choices.
(Drawn after I learned about and was fascinated by the idea of Buddhism in East Asian class, and when I told my father about this on a video call, he talked about Buddhism ideas to me non-stop)

Series of Chinese Teapot
It started from a scratch of teapot when my teacher asked what was I thinking. Just for fun, I added a lot more details after (1) and started to manipulate the drawing (2) and gradually reduce the details to form an simple symbol after careful design (3 and 4).
